Former Punch Bowl Social CEO Robert Thompson discusses his new business, Angevin & Co.

The company, named for an English dynasty that ruled in the 12th and 13th centuries — English history being a hobby of Thompson’s — has started with the purchase of The Frenchman hotel in New Orleans, which Thompson will refurbish and reopen with a much enhanced foodservice component that will include drink-forward menus — think frozen drinks to go, but with better alcohol and more complex flavors than the frozen Margaritas of Bourbon Street.

The Frenchman will be followed in 2022 with a beverage-focused concept in Denver called Three Saints Revival.

In this video, Thompson discusses his departure from Punch Bowl Social, the lessons he learned from that and his plans to revitalize hotels with improved food & beverage offerings.
